Our Home

Welcome to our home, below is more information about our lovely house and what you can see when you stay.

The House

Heart’s Desire Bed & Breakfast is located in a Classic Four Square Home, overlooking Mahone Bay. It was built in 1922 for a local school teacher, Vera Mason. We are only the forth owners of the house and a lot of the original woodwork and character of the home has been maintained throughout the years. The house has been a bed and breakfast for over 20 years and we believe it is named after a small fishing village in New Foundland.

As well are our lovely large veranda overlooking the Bay guests are welcome to make use of either of our two lounges and the dining room. There is free wi-fi access throughout the house – including the veranda.

The Veranda

We invite you to sit on our veranda and partake in one of our favourite pastimes of watching the boats and wildlife out on the bay.

The Lounges

Our main lounge just off the hall has a t.v.( with cable) and a d.v.d. player for our guest’s use. During the colder months this is where you can cozy up to our lovely warm stove. Relax in comfort!

Hearts Desire Lounge Hearts Desire Lounge

The upstairs lounge is a perfect place to read, play cards & games – or simply watch the activity out on the Bay. This is also where we offer early morning tea or coffee to guests before they venture downstairs for breakfast.

Winter season

After a very busy season, we will be closed until November 22nd so we can catch up with family and get some maintenance projects done. During this time we may not be able to answer your calls so please leave us a message and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can. Please be patient as it may be a few days before we reply. If you are looking to book a room, particularly for the Father Christmas festival, you can always book online by clicking on the check availability/book online button at the top right hand side of any of the pages on our website. Our online booking engine is secure, free to use and although we require your credit card to secure the booking no payment is taken at time of booking.

Please note that until May 1st 2019 we are open for reservations only.

Finally, we would like to thank everyone – whether on their first or a return visit for staying with us. Our aim is always to enable you to have a relaxed “home away from home ” stay and, from your comments on review sites, in our guest books and in person we appear to be achieving this!.

Wishing everyone a safe (& not too cold) winter and we look forward to seeing you in 2019.

John & Denise
